Furthering the theme, emptied-out amps display liquor bottles, while drums serve as tables. Hardcore shots like Jaeger and Jack--poured into iced glasses--are tipped back from snakeskin barstools and black leather sofas. Otherwise, beer is the beverage of choice. As for the attire, it's graphic tees for guys; low-cut tops for girls; and designer denim for all.

Music: 80’s, top 40 mixes and hip-hop, pop, and rock

Atmosphere: Oktoberfest all year round. With a 40 foot row of imported rustic tables, traditional German music & sing-a-longs, the infamous 2 liter beer Boot, Munich has never seemed closer. Uncle Fatty's

Hours: Wed-Fri 5pm-2am, Sat 12pm-3am

Music: DJ & Live Music

Atmosphere: The unlikely basement corner spot doesn't in the least inhibit the effort to replicate a Cancun beach bar. The floor is Astroturf, plywood or sand, & interior surfaces are covered in tiki-type wood, thatch or loud swaths of turquoise paint. Neon is big, too. Unsurprisingly, the young, beer-swilling crowd is rowdy, pounding cervezas & mammoth tropical concoctions to well-worn rock, pop & rap. The occasional cover band or reggae set mixes things up, but the focus is more beach bash than live music venue.

Hours: Monday - Friday: 4pm to 2am, Saturday: 1pm to 3am, Sunday: 1pm to 1am

Music: Practically everything from Latin, Lounge, Pop, Rock, Top 40, R&B, Hip-Hop, Acid Jazz and Dance.

Perfect for those who just spent $7+ on a beer at the Cub's game, Bar Celona has fantastic specials 6 days of the week. From $1 tacos, $5 martinis, $3 cosmos, and $2 burger and fries, this spot is the perfect place to chill and unwind in a Spanish Riviera state of mind

Music: Top 40, 80’s, Dance, Hip-Hop

Atmosphere: This Southport spot boasts conversation-friendly music, vaguely Victorian decor, and a hip abbreviated name. Tight clusters of wooden tables and chairs give way to a trio of plush, mega-booths lit by bordello-red lamps. The small but hard-working bar staff toils across the way beneath leaf-shaped ceiling fans and chandeliers. Casual Dress.

Hours: Sunday-Friday:  5pm-2am, Saturday: 5pm-3am

Music: Rock, pop, and country.  Basically music to have a good time to any night!

Atmosphere: Seen the movie? Yup, it’s that Coyote Ugly! Where they don’t serve water (unless you like a spray of water to the face…), the bartenders are the hottest girls in Chicago, and the crowd is wild and boisterous! Looking for a really fun night out? CU is definitely your place! Dress is casual.

Hours; Monday: 4pm-2am, Saturday: 4pm-3am, Sunday 9pm-2am.

Upstairs, the more dramatic transformation is noticeable: Taffeta curtains, oversized gold mirrors, chandeliers, mahogany accents and other romantic touches create a lush ballroom atmosphere with an antique edge. Feeling special? Kick back in the newly redone zebra-print VIP area with a prime view of the dance floor.

Hours: Thursday-Friday: 10 pm-4am, Saturday: 10 pm-5am

Music: Dance, House, Mainstream & Hip Hop

Atmosphere: Spybar's 4,200-square-foot River North space has undergone $1.3 million in renovations and now features exposed rafters, oak floors and original brick walls, plus modern touches such as glass, leather and indirect lighting. Expect an extensive champagne list, truffles and chocolates provided by Vosges Haut Chocolate and seasonal cocktails designed by mixologist John Kinder. Dress code strictly enforced: no shorts, ball caps, sweats, boots, rips in jeans, MUST be dressed appropriately.

Hours:  Thursday-Friday: 9pm-4am, Sat: 9pm-5am

Music: Techno, House, Rap, Hip Hop.

Atmosphere: A front room features cushy lounge seating, custom wrought railings good for leaning, a thick marble bar, and sway-inducing pop. Globular, colored glass lamps are in clusters throughout. The real action happens beyond the curtains, where an acre of hardwood dance floor is punctuated by pedestals for preening booty-shakers, a stage, more lounging options and an additional bar. Techno--from pop remixes to weightier house--dominates the loud system

Hours: 9 p.m.-4 a.m. Monday-Friday and Sunday; 9 p.m.-5 a.m. Saturday

Music: The Jukebox reigns here, but DJs spin on the weekends with hip-hop, pop, and rock.

Atmosphere: New to the Chicago Division scene, Evil Olive is a great place to go hang out in a lounge scene. Bar attire, dressy-casual.

Hours:  Friday & Saturday: 10pm-4am

Music: Reggae ton, old school, hip hop, house, salsa, bachata, top 40.

Hours: 5 p.m.-2 a.m. Monday-Sunday.

Music: Acid jazz, electronic, hip-hop.

Atmosphere: Birch trees attached to the walls cast a funky beautiful forest floor shadow as you sit back and enjoy the difference that is Ole. Taste their delicious cold and hot tapas as you sip a strawberry-raspberry mojito under the sexy low lighting. The perfect place to lounge around with a few friends and just enjoy the scene.

Hours: Sunday-Friday: 9pm-4am, Saturday: 9pm-5am

Music: Fun pop and retro dance remixes and House music.

Atmosphere: Ultra trendy and hip with its low ceilings and pounding beats, Funk challenges the typical Division Street bar stereotype with the velvet ropes and underground location. Dress appropriately

Hours: Monday-Thursday: 3pm-2am, Friday & Sunday: 11am-2am, Saturday: 11am-3am

Music: Rock & pop, Live Entertainment

Atmosphere: Ubiquitous TVs, a dance floor, plentiful seating and a large bar accommodate lively young patrons in the street-level main area. Two pool tables, a few other games and a stage for local music acts are tucked into a back room. Hours: Wednesday-Friday: 9pm-4am, Saturday: 9pm-5am

Music: Hip Hop, Rock, Rock

Atmosphere: Through an alley lined with palm fronds, down a dark staircase, the club-restaurant offers a sumptuous, gilded Gold Coast hideaway. Thick pillars throughout are painted with 21-karat gold, as is the artist-designed wallpaper. The dance floor is nice enough--a roomy, wood-paneled enclave--but the real attraction is the Yow Bar, named after Yow Low, the famous bartender from Trader Vic's. Business Dressy.

Hours: Sunday-Friday: 9pm-4am, Saturday: 9pm-5am (DJs Thursday-Saturday).

Music: Rock, pop, funky, soul, hip hop, rhythm & blues.

Atmosphere: “A neighborhood bar with a lounge attitude”. More like a hip bar than a club, Déjà Vu is a great place to come with friends with a leisurely manner. Two levels, different types of music, and a popular spot for the night owls! Trendy, appropriate dress

Hours: Daily 12pm to 2am

Music: Karaoke from 6 pm to 10 pm, everything and anything nightly.

Atmosphere: An intimate spot in the South Loop, Brando's features Karaoke on Saturday nights so you can rock out to Journey or be Britney Spears for the night. A chic atmosphere where stilettos are king and the traditional, grungy "karaoke bar" is laid to rest
