The
unlikely basement corner spot doesn't in the least
inhibit the effort to replicate a Cancun beach bar. The
floor is Astroturf, plywood or sand, & interior surfaces
are covered in tiki-type wood, thatch or loud swaths of
turquoise paint. Neon is big, too. Unsurprisingly, the
young, beer-swilling crowd is rowdy, pounding cervezas &
mammoth tropical concoctions to well-worn rock, pop &
rap. The occasional cover band or reggae set mixes
things up, but the focus is more beach bash than live
music venue.
